Architecture Saturdays, a new initiative for the 12th Architecture Biennale, consists of a series of topical discussions chaired by past directors of the Biennale. The series will bring together some of the most exciting names in design and architecture and cover a wide range of the most important aspects relating to architecture today.
Running fortnightly from the 11th September, topics so far discussed include La Strada che ha attraversato l'oceano ('the Road that Crossed the Ocean'), a chronicle of the genesis of the projects for the Teatro del Mondo, exhibited in Venice 1980, which was led by Paolo Portochesi, and x-Everything is Architexture - Alles ist Architektur - from SeXtreme - to eXhibition - to eXit, a multi-leveled discussion on architecture put to the panel by Austrian architect Hans Hollein, who directed the 1996 Exhibition.
Deyan Sudjic, who will chair the next discussion in the series next Saturday, has chosen The Client and Her Architects as his topic. Together with Daniela de Camaret, Yung Ho Chang, Julia Peyton Jones and Zhang Xin, he will explore the complex relationship between clients and architects in order to analyse the creative process that leads to the realisation of a building.
