Possibly the greatest surprise about How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster? is that this is the first feature-length documentary on one of Britain's most prolific architects - among Sir Norman Foster's works are such instantly recognisable landmarks as London's 30 St. Mary Axe (aka The Gherkin), Beijing Airport, the Hearst Headquarters tower in New York and the Millau Viaduct in France.
Directed by Carlos Carcas and Norberto Lopez Amado and written and narrated by London Design Museum Director Deyan Sudjic, the film encompasses the whole of Foster's remarkable career crossing continents to showcase the range of buildings designed by the Pritzker prize-winning architect.
How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster? will premier at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London on 26 January which will also screen the film on various dates during January and February. Following the 26 January event Foster will be in conversation with architectual theorist Charles Jencks.
