Software, sound and light blend into a 'dynamic and responsive light sculpture in five movements' for Scapes, a multi-sensory site-specific installation by digital arts collective Squidsoup, currently on view at Tenderpixel gallery in London (until 5 March).
The entire project, which takes the form of sequences of three dimensional cities, landscapes and abstract architectures which can be altered, controlled and interacted with by the audience, is based on a custom-made grid, Ocean of Light, which - after being synced with specially developed hardware - enables real-time control over the lights and a stimulation of objects and movements within the gallery space.
Squidsoup is an open group of collaborators founded by co-ordinator Anthony Rowe in 1997. Its work combines sound, physical space and virtual worlds and has been exhibited at international events and venues such as ARS Electronica Festival, Kinetica Art Fair, ISEA, the V&A, Late at Tate Britain, Future of Sound, Cybersonica and SONAR.
