Finance Manager (New York)

We are seeking a Finance Manager for our New York office to work with our portfolio of companies including Phaidon, Artspace, and Monacelli Press. Phaidon is the leading publisher in the arts; Artspace is the leading eCommerce platform for artwork; Monacelli Press is a leading publisher in architecture and interior design.

The Finance Manager is responsible for hands-on managing key aspects of the finances of the company including producing financial reports and develop strategies based on financial analysis and advising senior executives in making sound business decisions in the long and short term.

Duties include:

  • Manage bi-monthly payroll and work with outside payroll and benefits company on reporting and troubleshooting
  • Handle monthly T&E (Concur)
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable (Quickbooks)
  • Manage journal entries, month-end closing, and balance sheet reconciliation
  • Handle ad hoc management reporting and analysis
  • Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports
  • Present financial reports to stakeholders and executives in formal meetings
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations

Skills and Qualifications Required:

Degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field; several years of experience in a finance role; superior mathematical skills; leadership skills and experience; solid communication skills, both written and verbal; public speaking skills; superior attention to detail; organizational skills; analytical skills; problem-solving skills; computer skills; multi-tasking abilities. Experience with Quickbooks is highly preferred.
